Your Kingwood Orthodontist

Dr. Katie Snapp

Before becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Katie's dreams changed often. Depending on the day, she wanted to be a veterinarian, an astronaut, a paleontologist, a concert violinist, and even a Broadway star.

As proof of her diverse talents and interests, Dr. Katie double-majored in the violin and philosophy during her undergraduate education.

Dr. Katie made her final career choice and earned her DDS degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. She earned the Alpha Omega award for the highest graduating GPA. She was a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the dental honors society.

She then completed her orthodontic residency at the University of Texas, Houston, and earned her orthodontic certificate and a Masters of Science in Dentistry.

Following her residency, she passed additional testing to become board-certified with the American Board of Orthodontics.

In the midst of all of these accomplishments, Dr. Katie is most proud of the hard work she has put into advancing her career while raising her three daughters to be kind, curious, and driven.

Kingwood Braces

Traditional braces are one of the most efficient orthodontic tools we have. They're made out of metal brackets that are attached to the teeth, then connected by wires and tiny rubber bands or elastics. These brackets, wires, and bands work together to apply the gentle pressure that will gradually move the teeth into the positions we want them to be in if you have regular adjustments with our doctors.

Kingwood braces are an excellent choice for correcting complex tooth issues. Because they can sometimes work faster at aligning teeth and closing gaps than other treatments might, overall treatment time may be slightly reduced. Braces don't need some of the more complex technology or expensive equipment that newer treatments can, making Kingwood braces a cost-effective orthodontic option.

Kingwood Invisalign

Invisalign is incredibly popular with both patients and orthodontists and is the top alternative to traditional braces. Instead of brackets and bands, Kingwood Invisalign system uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually straighten your teeth.

Invisalign aligners are made of a comfortable plastic material and customized to fit snugly over your teeth. In order to keep your teeth moving in the direction you want them to, you'll generally need to switch your invisible trays out every 1-2 weeks for the next in the series. The Invisalign system can only work if the recommended guidelines are followed exactly! Aligners should be worn 20-22 hours per day throughout treatment. If patients neglect to wear the aligners as directed, it can impede the results and also add time to the orthodontic process.

Invisalign is at its most efficient when correcting many of the most common orthodontic issues. For some complex cases, Invisalign may not be a good option. A free consultation with Smile Ranch Orthodontics will allow us to determine your Invisalign eligibility.
